Jeff Chen will be presenting how he used a consumer-centric design thinking approach to build his business model for his Dirt Merchant Bikes business (www.dirtmerchantbikes.com). Using the consumer and market context as a guide, he uncovered unmet needs and built a minimum viable product to investigate a Seattle-area opportunity in the mountain bike retail space.
About the Speaker
Jeff Chen is currently a design researcher with Blink UX optimizing a new software product at Microsoft. Previously he was at Logitech where he directed market research programs to guide the creation and marketing of feature and technology-intensive products such as mobile device accessories, computer mice, keyboards and gaming peripherals. From 2003 to 2008, Jeff was an Automotive Product Planner at Honda R&D Americas in Torrance. In that role, he developed the vehicle concept and target buyer profile for the Honda Crosstour, Acura ZDX and the Honda Element SC.
Professionally, Jeff is interested in exploring opportunities to use market research to drive innovation in marketing and product development. Personally, as a recent transplant to the Pacific Northwest, he is excited by the opportunities to explore the outdoors by bike, by ski, by foot and by boat.
Jeff holds a MBA from the University of California, Irvine and a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan. He also has undertaken advanced training in moderation through the RIVA Training Institute.
