ITIL is a topic we're hearing with some regularity in conversations with product management and development teams. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on any or all of these questions:
1. Is ITIL being used, or discussed, in your organization?
2. How has it affected your work as a Product Manager?
3. What, if anything, did you wish you knew about ITIL?
4. What resources have you found to be most valuable in ramping up on this topic?
5. Have you pursued training or certification in this area?
Thanks Mara - very interesting topic!
I have been exposed to ITIL for a while since I used to be in the enterprise Support/Help Desk world where ITIL is very important. We needed to take ITIL terminology and specifications into account when developing our products. We even went to the trouble of getting our product "certified" as ITIL compatible.
Interestingly, over the last few years, ITIL has been moving into the Telecomms/Service Provider space (where I work now) as well by helping define processes in Service Provider network support / network operations environment.
I am interested to hear about others experience with ITIL as well.
